New Legislation Seeks to Extend Existing Smoking Restrictions to Include Vaping Devices
Belarus plans to prohibit vaping near and inside the entrances of multi-story apartment buildings, according to a report by Sputnik Belarus. The proposed ban is part of a broader legislative effort to regulate the circulation and consumption of vaping products, including non-tobacco nicotine-containing devices and e-liquids.
The draft legislation, which is currently undergoing public discussion, introduces several restrictions on vaping, including limitations on where these devices can be used. The new rules would extend existing smoking bans to cover vaping, prohibiting the use of e-cigarettes and other vaping devices on the steps of residential buildings and in the surrounding areas.
This move follows a previous announcement that Belarus is considering the introduction of state regulation for vaping products. The government has also established procedures and deadlines for responding to socially significant information related to these devices and their use.
As the vaping industry continues to grow, countries around the world are grappling with how to effectively regulate these products to protect public health and safety. Belarus’ proposed legislation is part of a broader global trend toward stricter controls on vaping, particularly in public spaces and areas frequented by children and families.
