Renowned vape manufacturer Innokin recently added the artfully designed Klypse Mecha to its range of compact pod mods. Billed as a celebration of the popular Klypse brand’s success, does this MTL-focused pod system deliver substance to match its standout style? Let’s dig into the build quality, battery life, pods, performance and overall user experience in this hands-on review.
Klypse Mecha – First Impressions
Right away, the Klypse Mecha’s eye-catching aesthetic makes an impression. The brushed zinc alloy chassis looks premium, while the artistic clockwork-inspired panel adds intrigue.
Weighing in at a solid 100g, this is a reassuringly sturdy pod mod that feels built to last. Standing at 92mm tall and 44mm wide, it’s compact enough for pockets without feeling insubstantial.
The protruding dial that enables easy setting adjustment is a distinctive design choice. However, its prominence means it can get accidentally pressed when in pockets, shutting the device off.
Overall, the Mecha successfully balances classy looks with a robust in-hand feel. The creative clockwork embellishments add character that helps this pod mod stand out.
Adjustability and Ease of Use
For all its stylized exterior, the Mecha offers adjustment flexibility rivaling far less ornate mods. The main settings accessible via the dial-button and OLED screen include:
- Wattage – Customizable from 6-18W
- Voltage – Adjustable from 3.2 to 4.1V
- Draw activation on/off
- Screen timeout duration
- Coil resistance readout
- Puff counter
- Digital clock display
The circular OLED makes absorbtion of key vaping statistics intuitive. Responsiveness and precision feel on par with more advanced mods too.
Smart variable wattage aligns power delivery to the coil resistance for optimal performance without risk of burning. This simplifies dialing in your preferred vape style.
Battery Performance and Charging Speed
A 900mAh integrated battery keeps the Mecha running. For the size and intended use, this capacity suffices but falls short of exceptional.
During testing, I got around 3ml of vaping per full charge when using the 0.6ohm pod at 15-18W. Closer to 2.5ml was achievable with the 1.2ohm pod at max smart wattage.
Charging requires around 55 minutes via the 0.8A Type-C port. Quick charging would have been preferable for such limited battery capacity. Thankfully, sideways port orientation enables pass-through vaping while charging.
While no battery life champ, I could get through most of an average day before needing a top-up. Carrying a portable battery pack is advisable for longer outings though.
Assessing the Klypse Mecha’s Pods and Coils
The Klypse Mecha uses the same tried-and-tested 2ml pods compatible across the Klypse range. I encountered zero leaks and minimal spitback during testing.
The kit includes:
- 0.6ohm pod for looser MTL draw
- 1.2ohm pod for tighter MTL inhale
Both deliver excellent flavor reproduction with nic salts, freebase juice and varying PG/VG ratios. Longevity seems respectable too – coils lasted 2 weeks before a gradual decline in density.
Filling the bottom-side port requires removing the pod, but the tight magnetic fit means this stays secure during transport and liquid visibility remains clear.
Vaping Experience and Performance
Equipped with its airflow-adjustable 0.6ohm and 1.2ohm pods, the Mecha provides a thoroughly satisfying MTL vaping experience. The draw feels smooth and responsive using either pod, with density aligning well to my settings.
The smart wattage control prevents unpleasant dry or burnt hits when pushing the power limits. Flavor comes through cleanly without muting subtler notes.
Whether used for nic salt or standard vape juice, the Mecha consistently delivers. The adjustable airiness gives it versatility for different MTL preferences too.
My only gripes were occasional misfires when wide open and the dial button’s propensity to inadvertently shut off the device. Otherwise, performance felt consistent and reliable.
Pros and Cons of the Innokin Klypse Mecha
Pros
- Artistic watch-inspired aesthetic
- Excellent build quality and ergonomics
- Widely adjustable wattage and voltage
- Smart variable wattage protects coils
- Airflow-adjustable MTL performance
- Leak-resistant pods with great flavor
Cons
- Battery capacity is rather limited
- Lacks fast charging
- Protruding dial prone to accidental presses
- Slight firing delay when fully open
Verdict – A Unique and Capable MTL Pod System
The Innokin Klypse Mecha brings innovation to aesthetics but retains the ease of use the Klypse series is loved for. It backs up the artistic exterior with sustained quality pods, battery flexibility, and reliably satisfying flavor.
An hour of charging for under an hour of vaping is disappointing. However, pass-through charging helps mitigate limited battery capacity for an otherwise very capable MTL pod mod.
For vapers seeking a stylish, distinctly crafted pod device with adjustable airflow and power to personalize their vape experience, the Klypse Mecha warrants strong consideration. It hits the mark on form, function and flavor.
